The Upper Arlington Commission on Aging (UACOA) is excited to officially welcome the newest members of its Board of Trustees: Kate Diday and Rachit Thariani.
A UA resident, Kate says, “I enjoy helping others, and sharing any talents that I have cultivated throughout my career to make an impact in my community.” After having spent nearly 2 decades of giving back through the UA Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, Kate shifts her marketing, strategy, and community networking expertise to serving our older residents. “Now I am at a new chapter, with grown children and a recent membership to AARP. I see the UACOA Board as an ideal place for me to lend my skill set, while also learning about services that I too may use in the future.”
Rachit is the Chief Administrative Officer for the OSU Wexner Medical Center’s Home and Post-Acute Division. When asked what he considers to be the biggest issues facing our City’s aging population, he said, “Seniors face a variety of challenges across physical, emotional, financial and social areas. Specific issues include: Aging in place + independent living, loneliness, isolation and building social connections, building connections with community programs and resources, physical and mental health, wellbeing.” He goes on to add, “I believe that we are what we are today, in large part, because of the sacrifices our elders have made. We therefore owe it to them to provide the support and care when they most need us in their later years…The question we need to be asking and helping answer is – how can we make our seniors’ golden years, truly golden?”
We are excited to grow our Board with these individuals who share our passion for educating, empowering, and enriching the lives of UA’s older residents!
